Alan Grout Raku Sculptured Pedestal Candlestand

Alan Grout Raku pottery candle stand with a sculptural silhouette: a broad, shallow square top with gently upturned corners rests on a short pedestal base with vertical finger-fluting impressions. Rim has a metallic-looking finish in bronze, gold, and charcoal tones, it is in excellent condition.

Alan and Joan Grout operated Clayform studios in Gibsons on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast from aproximately 1977-2012. The pottery is known for its stoneware and raku-fired pieces, their most recognized works incorporate sharp architectural forms and designs often with brutalist elements.
